One time that I donated blood, I got hooked up to a machine that took my blood out, extracted the useful part (platelets?), and put the other stuff (plasma?) back in me. It allowed the Red Cross to get twice as much of the useful stuff. The issue with was that when the blood being processed outside of my body, it got cold, so when it was put back me, I got really cold. I was thinking one way to fix this would be to warm the blood up a little before it re-entered the body. A terrible way to die would be to have the blood warmed to just under boiling.
uh, er, OKAY i'm not sleeping tonight
