I scored a temp gig cashiering at the Stanford bookstore as fall quarter begins.
Today, I received the shift schedule for "hell week."
The 17 other temps are all scheduled to work 30+ hours. I'm scheduled to work 14.5 two closing shifts and a Saturday.
"What the fuck. I had never worked in retail before, but I think I performed well during my training shifts. Was I the last temp in?"
"Maybe she thinks you're a student, like some of the parents you've rung up."
"Sobering thought…"
